Prior to her career in marketing, Melissa spent nearly a decade serving as a senior project management consultant for a large, national non-profit, developing the organization’s capability to prepare for and respond to disasters throughout the country. Melissa piloted and implemented new strategies related to building community resilience and established a strategic network of resources to help businesses bounce back following a disaster. She worked with stakeholders from the non-profit, private, and public sectors on an array of projects including:
Melissa is a member of the Doylestown Rotary Young Professionals and has previously served on the board of directors for the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia and Miami-Dade County. Melissa was also appointed as an advisor to the National League of Women Voters in Washington, D.C.
She is the winner of the 2013 Miami Foundation Public Space Challenge for her proposal to enhance shared community space along Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. Melissa once raised more than $16,000 in 24 hours for an environmental non-profit. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Pennsylvania State University.
