Susan is also a twice-elected, past-president of the League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County, and under her tenure, received top recognition from its national and state sister organizations. As President, from 2016-2018, she doubled the membership base, expanded the League’s partnerships with respected organizations, and strengthened its platform for successful programming, branding, and digital promotion.
Most notably, Susan had the vision to create and secure funding for the local League’s 2018 Election Team for mid-term elections that resulted in increased member participation to register voters and “Get Out the Vote", increasing voter turnout, especially in vulnerable communities. A companion Fellows Program was created to engage young voters. Dozens of “decode the ballot” voter forums were conducted across Miami-Dade County, explaining the ballot, especially how ballot items impact voters and their daily lives.
Susan is a 2019 recipient of the prestigious “In the Company of Women” award for her outstanding leadership and service in government and law presented by the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women. She has also been honored with the CLEO Institute Circle of Leadership award, for having established the Climate Conscious Voter Program. Susan credentials include a bachelor’s degree, Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Science from the University of Illinois (Industrial/Personnel Psychology). She is also a Florida Bar Registered Paralegal.
